Several incidents of vehicle break-ins occurred the night of Dec 6. The incidents were reported in Lyra East parkade, on Altair and on Carina. Please ensure you remove any valuables from your vehicles, and report any suspicious activity to the police. For all serious crimes, or any crime in progress, please call 911 immediately. Sep 26, 2018 | Tree Work
Please be advised that BC Tree will be onsite over the next couple of weeks to perform tree work. Tree pruning and stump grinding around the grounds will occur. Two trees that are in poor shape next to the playground will be removed and replaced with deciduous to provide summer shade and winter light. Additional evergreen tree planting around the playground area will also occur.
Sep 25, 2018 | Road Access Restrictions – Carina, Lyra, Altair Place.
Please be advised that there will be no access for carports 3021 to 3035 and for tag parking between 3021 and 3019 Carina Place until Friday afternoon due to paving repairs completed today. The carports are clearly marked with access restrictions noted. Restricted road access will also occur Wed Sep 26 for Altair Place and Lyra Place for line painting. The tag parking spaces at Lyra entrance must be cleared by 7:30 am to allow for line painting.
Sep 12, 2018 | Food Scraps Bins not being emptied
The bear proof Food Scraps bins are now in place but bins are not being emptied by the city. Pickup is on Tuesdays
– THE BINS MUST BE UNCLIPPED on Tuesday mornings for the city to empty the bins. If the clips are attached the bins will not be emptied. All food scraps must be wrapped in paper/or paper products before disposing of them in the food scrap bin.
Jul 15, 2018 | Vehicle Damage
Please note there has been another report of vehicle gas tank damage this time in the east Lyra parkade. An owner reported that holes had been drilled in their gas tank which drained the tank. Upon checking further strata has discovered that there has been a rash of these gas thefts in the last few months in Burnaby and the lower mainland, and it appears that the police are looking into it. The police have been notified of the recent issues we have experienced. Please keep watch and report any suspicious behaviour to the police. The electric heater in the sauna was broken due to water being poured over it. It has been repaired again.
Jul 9, 2018 | Vehicle Damage
Please note there has been a report of vehicle damage in the west Lyra parkade. An owner reported that several holes had been drilled in their gas tank which drained the tank and left some gas pooled under the vehicle. Please keep watch and report any suspicious behaviour to the police.

Jun 22, 2018 | The Pool is Open
The pool deck work is finally complete. Pool and cabana prep wor
k is also complete and the inspection took place today. The pool is now open for the season. Strata council would also like to thank the owners for their patience while the pool work was underway.
Jun 14, 2018 | Pool Deck Replacement – Update
The pool work is still in progress. The interior pool tiles are being installed and will require a couple of days to dry. Tile work has been hampered by rain over the past few days. Our pool manager is ready to fill and prepare the pool but cannot start until the tile work is complete. Once prep work is done the inspection will be arranged. An opening date is still TBD, we hope to have the pool open by Jun 23rd weekend but this will be dependent upon the inspection. Again, strata council thanks owners for their patience while we work to get the pool open.
Jun 13, 2018 | Bear Proof Green Bins
Our green bins have been replaced with Bear Proof Green Bins. The new bins come with 2 clips on each lid which should be refastened after using the bins. PLEASE NOTE Tuesdays are Green Bin collection days and the City requires the clips to be unfastened and clipped onto the handles as shown in the notice below or they will not empty the bins. Please ensure you do not fasten the clips on Tuesday if the bin has not yet been emptied.

Jun 4, 2018 | Pool Deck Replacement – Update PM
The pool deck is being poured today and will require 2 to 3 days to dry. Repairs are also required to interior pool tiles which will begin later this week and will require the pool to be drained. Once the tile work is complete the pool will be filled and prepped, then the inspection will be arranged. An opening date is still TBD but at this point is looking like mid-June. Strata council thanks owners for their patience while we work with our contractors to resolve issues that have arisen with a goal of getting this project completed and the pool open.

The pool deck is now prepared for pouring, the contractor deemed the weather to be too unstable to pour end of last week and is hoping to do this early this week. With the deck work it became evident that added repairs are also required to interior pool tiles. This work will commence once the deck has been poured. The pool inspection will then be arranged. At this point an opening date is still TBD.

Pool deck replacement is on-going, an opening date is still TBD. The contractor is hoping to complete the work for early next week. Once the deck work is complete, the pool inspection will be arranged.
May 18, 2018 | Pool Deck Replacement – Update
Please be advised that the pool deck replacement is currently underway but unfortunately there has been a delay with our contractor. The work will continue next week and a completion date and subsequent pool opening date will be posted once this is determined.

Please be advised that cement work is occurring in several areas around the grounds over the next couple of days. Some sidewalk access areas may be closed off during this time.
May 10, 2018 | NOTICE OF LYRA PLACE ROAD CLOSURE – Update
Paving at the entrance to Lyra Place will be completed today. Access to Lyra can resume after 6 pm. Lyra tag parking spaces will remain closed until Friday May 11 at 9 am to allow the asphalt to set. Parking on the cement carport pads is permitted.

Please be advised that the road to Lyra Place will be closed between 9:00 am – 4:00 pm on Thursday, May 10th, 2018. An additional closure on Friday, May 11th between 9:00 am – 1:00 pm may be required if the work does not get completed during this time. No traffic will be able to go in or out during this time. Should you need the get your vehicle out of the lower NW Lyra parkade or from your unit, please ensure that it’s done prior to 9:00 am. The NE Lyra parkade will not be closed off.

May 2, 2018 | Exterior Dryer Vent Cleaning – THUR MAY 31, FRI JUN 1.
Please note that National Air Technologies will be onsite to perform exterior dryer vent cleaning. The cleaning will be done from the outside. Please ensure the area around the dryer vent is clear for the crew to access the vent.
May 2, 2018 | Pool Deck Replacement
Please note that Dolman Pools Ltd. will be on site starting Wednesday, May 2nd, 2018 to start the pool deck replacement. Please be advised that the pool is tentatively scheduled to open May 25th, pending successful completion of deck repairs and pool inspections.

Please note that the landscape crew that has been working on Carina Place planter boxes project has now provided a list of recommended plants for the beds and planter boxes that were impacted during the re-pipe project. Please be advised that Lionview Contracting will be on site to investigate a leak on Wednesday, April 11th , 2018. In order to facilitate the investigation please be advised that the water needs to be shut off from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm (approximately).
Mar 6, 2018 | Watermain Break – Repairs Continue
Latham’s will continue work to repair the drain pipe that also broke during our watermain break. This work is occurring in the green space between Lyra and Altair. A large hole has been dug to access gain access to the pipe. Please stay clear of the area while this work is underway. Work on the original break area is also still in progress. The expectation is that parking spaces in this area will be restored by the end of the week.
Mar 2, 2018 | Centaurus Circle Fencing Project – Sat Mar 3rd Work Schedule
Please be advised that the crew working on the Centaurus Circle fence project will be working Saturday March 3rd from approximately 9:30am to 3:00pm. To keep disturbances to a minimum most of the work will occur on the front area outside the fence perimeter but there will also be some limited work occurring in the enclosed areas in the front of units to install lattices and/or gates. No work will occur on Sunday, but will resume Monday March 5th at 8:00 am.

The plan for the watermain work has been revised and will now begin on Monday, March 5th. It is anticipated that no road closures will be required for the revised work.
Feb 28, 2018 | NOTICE of ROAD CLOSURE – Lyra Place FRIDAY MARCH 2ND, 8AM Watermain work will continue on Friday March 2nd that will require Lyra Place road access to be closed off. There will be no in or out traffic from 8am to approx 2pm. Please ensure you move any vehicles that need out of Lyra Place prior to 8am.
Feb 28, 2018 | Fencing Project on Centaurus Circle is Underway
Fence replacement work is occurring on Centaurus Circle this week and is expected to be complete by end of next week, Mar 9th. Additional pathway lighting to the area will be included as an add-on to the project.
Feb 23, 2018 | Salt and Snow Shovels
Salt and snow shovels are available for use by strata residents for clearing snow around the strata. Please ensure that any shovels are returned immediately after use to be available for the next person. If you have previously used a shovel and not yet returned it, please do so as we our numbers are reducing. Shovels and/or salt can currently be found at the following locations:

- 3039 Carina Place
- 9030 Altair Place
- Lyra parkade storage room – shovels / salt to be located beside the storage room (Lyra East Parkade off of Centaurus Drive)

Feb 23, 2018 | Watermain Break Repairs Continue – Water Has Been Restored
Update: Repairs have progressed to the stage where water has now been restored to the entire strata. The water will initially run brown/murky but after some flow the debris will clear. The work area will remain fenced off as more work is required early next week. Therefore the tag parking spaces next to the worksite will remain closed until all work is complete and the sinkhole has been filled to ensure roadway stability next to the site. Install work is going well – if this continues we should have water back on for the entire strata by early evening. The watermain repair work is still in progress. There were 2 major pipes that burst and a valve failure at the entrance to the strata property which
resulted in requiring water to be shut off for the entire strata for repairs to occur. Work is underway to repair the two water pipes and install a new valve. If all goes well water will be restored to the entire complex sometime later this evening.
Feb 22, 2018 | Major Watermain Break
A major watermain break caused a sinkhole on Lyra Place today. Water for the entire strata had to be turned off to do the required repair work. Crews have been onsite working to determine the extent of the damage. An electrical room on Lyra was also flooded causing a power outage for homeowners on Lyra and Centaurus Drive. Power has since been restored to most of the homes, but some electrical issues will require added repair work prior to full power restoration. Watermain repair work will continue on Friday with hopes that the water will be restored later in the day Friday, but this is still tentative.

It has been reported that salespeople are visiting homes asking to see their furnace and claiming to be with Fortis BC. This is a scam. FortisBC reminds all customers that they do not solicit door-to-door. So, if you receive a visit from someone claiming to be from FortisBC ask for their information and contact FortisBC to verify.
