Food Scraps
The bear proof Food Scraps bins are now in place. Pickup is on Tuesdays – THE BINS MUST BE UNCLIPPED on Tuesday mornings for the city to empty the bins. If the clips are attached the bins will not be emptied.
All food scraps must be wrapped in paper/or paper products before disposing of them in the food scrap bin. For more info see the City of Burnaby’s Food Scraps Brochure.
Waste Disposal and Recycling?
Burnaby has provided a Multi-Family Recycling Guide. Please ensure you review and recycle or dispose of waste accordingly.
Large Household Items
The City of Burnaby will pick-up large household items at no extra charge. If any Owners wish to dispose of large household items, please ensure that you contact the City in advance by Phone: 604.294.7210
Barbecues
Please note that the City will pick-up unwanted barbeques but ONLY if the grill and grease tray is cleaned.
Electronics / Metal
The City will NOT pick-up any electronics or anything metal. These items CANNOT be left near the dumpster. Please take these items to the Recycle Depot.

Statutory Holiday Collection Schedule
As of Feb 21st, 2022 City of Burnaby collection will no longer occur on statutory holidays. Instead, for the week in which the statutory holiday falls, the collection schedule for all services will shift by one day. The collection schedule will then return to normal for the following week.
Example for a week with a Monday statutory holiday:
